Part of my inspiration to start a baking blog of my own were some of the incredible sites out there already.
Here is a rundown of my favourites – this is a living list and will grow with time.
My number 1 slot goes to the adorable Rosie of Sweetpolita, her recipes are incredible, as evidenced by her recent book deal. Her whole blog is super cute and her instruction are very useful, I find them foolproof and her cakes are my default for inspiration whenever I need to make something really special. I aspire to her greatness. I highly recommend her 50 Tips for Baking Better Cakes.
I cannot tell you the number of times I’ve googled a recipe, or just been mooching about for inspiration and ended up on Joy’s site, her photos are amazing and chronicle her techniques so well, making it that much easier to repeat her kitchen success. She has even inspired me to eat a little healthier, only a little.
If you are interested in decorating techniques, specifically with cookies or biscuits then this is your gal – she describes herself as an artist and I defy anyone to challenge that. Her designs are so clever, her decorations are mind-blowing and her sugar-cookie recipe is my absolute favourite.
There are so many reasons to love Britt Wyatt, her rocker billy website, her flame red hair, her frank and open discussions on depression but the most relevant reason are her delicious treats. She is a fab cake decorator but I would be lying if I said it wasn’t in fact her whimsical snacks that made me want to follow her around with harps.
I don’t even know where to start with this divine diva. It could be her way with flavours or her bad ass hair, but Kara has captivated me. She is very generous with her incredible cakey knowledge so check out her Facebook Live feed too.
You will find a connection with most of these, they either reference each others work or support each others business and that is no accident. I found most of them by blog hopping, as I found one I liked and respected I took their advice on who else to look up. I am a better baker because of the bloggers mentioned here, so I thank them all.
